At Paws & Reflect, our mission is to get to the root cause of your dog's reactivity and aggressive behaviours to create a safe and secure environment through effective training techniques. We believe in using non-aversive methods that promote positive behaviour and strengthen the bond between dogs and their owners. All of our strategies are science-based, drawing on our extensive knowledge of the internal makeup of our canine companions.
At Paws & Reflect, we are committed to providing ethical, science-based dog training and behaviour modification that prioritises the welfare and wellbeing of every dog in our care. We advocate for the dogs in our care and do all we can to make them feel safe and free from fear. Unfortunately, many dog trainers out there promise quick results but are in fact using fear-based tactics. On the surface, their tactics look to be working but under the surface, the dog's fear is actually being worsened and they're displaying 'learned helplessness'. We want to educate and empower the guardians we work with to understand how best to help their dogs and recognise why positive reinforcement really is the best stance to take on dog training and behaviour modification.
We use reward-based methods to encourage desired behaviours, building trust and confidence in dogs while strengthening the bond between dog and guardian.
We do not use, promote, or recommend any aversive tools or techniques, including prong collars, choke chains, shock devices, intimidation, or fear-based methods. Training should never cause pain, fear, or distress to a dog.
All training and behaviour modification plans are based on the latest scientific understanding of canine learning theory, behaviour, and welfare.
The physical and emotional wellbeing of the dog is always our top priority. We will never push a dog beyond its comfort level and will work at a pace appropriate to each individual.
